The RSO Series made it’s most recent stop at CITC’s 200-meter banked track in Harriston. This 3rd RSO Series competition of the outdoor season had a small skater turn-out. Despite the lack of support though, the racing was very good.
Early in the morning as skaters adn officials arrived, it looked like the competition might be rained out. But the weather ended up being fine and the wind conditions were ideal for the time trials and 500-meter sprints. In fact, both Peter Doucet and Morgane Echardour set all-time 1500-meter time trial records- with Doucet scoring a 2:22.07 and Echardour coming in with a 2:35.87.
Thank you to the officials and volunteers- including Wayne Burrett, Jim Mallard, Cheol Min Kim, Gilliand Clarke, and all the lap-counters.
The next series race is planned for Ottawa. Details including date and venue to be announced.
The RSO Series was supposed to make a stop in Ottawa/ Aylmer on July 19th. However, a soccer group booked the field inside the 400-meter Aylmer track. As a result of this conflict, the RSO Series is postponed. A new date will be announce at a later time.
The 2009 RSO Series continued its 2009 season earlier today. The series had its second race of the season in ideal conditions at Toronto’s Father Redmond 400-meter track.
The turn-out was quite small for today’s race. However, skaters took this opportunity to post good times. This was also a change for skaters to try & get some racing in on the track that will be used for this July’s Canadian Championships.
Thank you very much to everyone who volunteered and helped with set-up, timing, starting, lap-counting, officiating, and cleaning up.
